One step forward two steps back

Yesterday Mark spotted this. Big crack on the hull  under the pullpit . The jib stay is attached to the chain roller/shroud bracket. It goes right around. Not good Not good at all.The picture below show what the bracket looks like from inside the bow. We think the rusty washers gave way when the jib stay was tightened and the bracket moved and pulled at the fibre glass making the crack. Mark has thought us some fixes but is waiting to see Richard and brother Steve on monday to see if they have better ideas. The last thing we want to do is get the boat lifted out AGAIN. That would be another £350. We are really hoping we can turn the boat and work of the pontoon. . I  am really glad it happened here and not when we were sailing across the channel using our jib sail. I would hate to think what could have happened. Mark before he bought the boat had a survey done which was expensive but seemed really  worth it because it found a lot of problems that were small and fixable and was extensive. He has been going over every one of these problems and fixing or getting fixed each one and had completed the list. The rest of the stay points were checked in the survey and we thought this one was too , apparently not.
i am hopeful that it can be fixed but it is another delay.Mark only found it while checking the dinghy out in the water while waiting for the wind to drop and attach the sails. I am trying to remain cheerfull but as to the survey guy is cocerned i am not a happy bunny..
if things couldn't have got worse they did. Walton had a steam train called tornado going up and down the track yesterday and it was a lovely locomotive beautifully kept. We had not bought tickets because we thought we would be in France by now but i went to the station to have a look. It ran all day and at 9.30 pm while Mark was walking Tom and fireworks started , Tom freaked out slipped his lead and off in to the night. He looked but couldn't find him. We left a porthole open for him as he knows where the boat is . This ment Patch had to sleep with us in the bed to stop her leaving via said porthole. She was in seventh heaven purring all night and sniffing my face and sneezing on me and generally keeping me awake. Mark had already got up as he couldn't sleep first with the crack and then the lost cat whirling around his head.
I got up early and went looking saw a tail disappear into a hole in the side of bedwells shed but couldnt see him. Lifeboat Steve and Zimbabwe Steve had been told and had heard noises in the shed . So Mark went with Dreamies and cat food. Came back with CAT. Jesus i was so relieved . Mark was being brave and i was trying not to say told you so. But we were all wondering what it would be like if we had to leave him behind. How long would we wait before we had to go. Thankfully we have him back no worse for wear just hungry. He is now sleeping on MY pillow snoring. We have now ordered made to measure cat harnesses so it shouldn't happen again.
Pre Toms escape i took a photo of LAL looking pretty in the pond.. Well we shall see tomorrow what Richard and Brother Steve say.Hopefully they will come up with a cheap secure fix and we will soon be on our way. Wish us luck friends as we need as much as we can get
