Landrover Bowlers Yum Yum

quickest tyre change i have ever seen.

Right this was   The Scottish Hill Rally weekend od 18th of november.
It was only by sheer chance i found out about this. Fueling my disco at Castle Kennedy , i was struck dumb [ briefly ] when a couple of 4x4 came in pulling Bowlers on trailers.
I have always loved the landrover Bowler.Brilliant off road landrovers are turned in to extremely fast off roaders and can comfortably do well over 60 mph over fields.
Now after gibbering and drooling like an idiot to the very understandable guys who had the bowlers , they told me they were heading for a rally at Snt johns town of Dalry near New Galloway and i should go.
Well as soon as i got the chance , i went online , put a plea for info on my FB page and went in search of anything bowler related New galloway related and Snt Johns Town Of Dalry related and eventually after much rewording found the Scottish Hill Rally web site and with help from their members got the time and date and location of rally.
I was abit miffed as if i had got the message on friday night i could have been a Marshall [ Yea ] and very early but after i had looked on my |fB page on saturday i could have if i got there on time been at the race start. God i was just about greeting.
I was still determined and thanks to Mark having the sat nav used the old fashioned way of sort of knowing where it was headed in that direction and eventually made it. Its some road to the Forrest estate and the road people have been very optimistic when putting the white line up the middle. A few close shaves but fine. Did manage to get lost IN New Galloway by literally following a signpost when it actually must have ment the junction further on.
Monty was in his element but his body was not and the cambers being abit skewed made me feel rather sea sick ironically.
It is stunning countryside up there which i appreciated on the way back , but time was ticking and it was taking me forever. At last two little arrows sent me up a dirt track to the speactators car park.
I got out and i could hear them roaring round the forest and i went as quick as my little legs would go up the steep track for about a mile and arrived breathless and half dead at the spectators area.
There was a few people there and back up teams for the competitors.
I do know that rallies are dangerous places but health and safety went abit far , i could barely see the cars and mostly only heard them in the distance.
They were great and it was a great rally but i would like to have got closer even to the cars while they were in the service area and had a good drool. What was clear was that the teams are very dedicated to their cars and the rally and through the website i can appreciate the family that these guys and girls are .
They were all supportive to each other and it was great to just be there. Hopefully some how i can make next years rally as a marshall and get to see my idol cars up close .And have a look at all the kit that makes them work so well.
I think Monty my disco was rather disappointed to be left in the car park. I know he could have given them a run for their money  but how many bits would have dropped of by the end and the ability to make it back home would have been in question.[ however tow trucks are available and i do have my AA breakdown cover, I could always say i got abit lost to divert from awkward questions]
It would be nice if all landy's could have a final go out in a blaze of glory rally ,Too many of them never get of the tar.
Would like to thank everybody for being so kind and i really will make the effort to get there next year. Well done to all that took part and those who won .
