skiff turning , Phew




 


Hi everybody . Hope you are  all well. As usual , this blog in combinatiomn with this damn computer are in a conspiracy to disrupt my sanity. You would think that having the writing going down one side of the page would be easy . But no and this is the way it goes , Why can't technology for once be on my side .
So i have deemed it necessary to try and out wit the lap top. It wont matter any way because even if i do get what i want as ssoon as it goes to blog, it's all higgletepiggity and looks amess.

Well you will have seen these skiffs before and haven't they done well. Who would have thought that marine ply and glue could look so stylish and sleek.
This a crucial part , The turning . Many hands make light work. It has taken me some time to get the blogs together which i shall explain in a blog but i want these lads and lassies to get the credit they are due . So the next blog is some more piccys further on in the process.

 Some old photos, we don't get snow in the South Rhinns very often , but when we do its a show stopper  This is a few years ago . Cows had to be fed and checked even though it took Mark 3 days sitting in the landy to get through finally. Power was off across the whole area and the snow was sticky and shut all the mobile antennas down. Landlines to were down. Some villages were shut off for at least 5 days and the RNLI had to rescue people from outlying bays and get them to Portpatrick. We were lucky. We had a rayburn and plenty of wood. My parents rayburn got blocked with snow and the fire decided to visit the kitchen. They did get it out with help from there friend John their neighbour. i thought they would be ok and hadnt got to them for a couple of days. What a sight they were all covered in soot, hair standing on end. #seasthefuture Scotlands International Marine conference

Hi folks I feel honoured to have attended Scotlands very first marine international conference. Since my little adventure , i have gained much more confidence . But still, attending a conference full of passionate dedicated highly qualified scientists , terrified me. As the event progressed , i realy appreciated having my wonderful daughter to lead me by the hand , help me formulate my questions and with some people , stop me losing my temper. Bethany is doing a phd in evolution involving genes . There is much more involved but climate change was relevant for her so she attended too Our fantastic host for this event was Collin Moffat, Scottish government minister for marine. #seasthefuture . He was very amusing and kept our attention with wit and treating us like a group of friends. People from all over the world were in attendence . wow what a day all excitement and rain and people about. LAL is not in yet but they were moving another boat into the water and thought while the crane was going they would get us ready. We didn,t get much warning.Spent the morning getting all the stuff that could fly down on the floor. We were then told  at about midday it would be another boat shifted and then us. so we put the kettle on and settled down to lunch. Mark went to do something i was sitting going through facebook. Then a strap appears at the window and a set of lower legs i didn't recognise.I heard Mark saying can i get the cats out first. That was it out the hatch i went , yip we were going to be on the move quicker than we thought. . Tom and Patch had been worked up all morning and were not happy about leaving the boat.
