keeping busy
Don't ask , i have no idea why it put the picture there this time. I will never understand computors. I am sure they are great and do logical things but they just do whatever they want with me.
I used to do lots of drawings and have done the odd mural. And most houses i have lived in have rarely got away without one somewhere.
I have an auntie whos house is wonderfully painted by her own hand. Nearly every surface has animals etc over it and it marvelous to go there and it is almost imposssible not to get lost in the paintings.
she is a proper artist and has done and is still doing amazing work.
i grew up with this womans art and she has been a great influence on me .Even though i do not have her sight i do hope one day to achieve a standard somewhere close to the beautiful art she creates.I was slightly restricted to the amount of art materials i could fit on the boat and i have left my beloved acrylics behind. So have resorted to what i did when i was a kid and just use pen and pencil.. i haven't drawn like this for some time so please be kind in your appraisel.
It is good to draw, a good way to stop your brain going over the problems of the day and just concentrate on the task in front of you. Giving your brain a rest in a way and a chance to put things in perspective. In past years i had the chance to do a massive mural at a primary school. I was asked and said yes before knowing what i was saying yes to. So me as you can see being a fantasy artist sort of crumbled when told they wanted Winnie the Pooh.
It was my daughters school and she was in primary 1 at the time.So i said i would check about copyright and i did and was told i could do an impression of winnie and friends but not a direct copy.
Great i had some leeway. Bethanys headmistress was a lovely lady and really wanted the corridor to be cheeful and fill the kids with happiness, but also with a bit of subtle education..
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. You can't go wrong with kids and i asked all the classes what they wanted in the mural as they would all be passing it during the day.
suggestions of animals , things living in toadstools and trees , the seasons farms hills mountains, oh the list went on and on. Eeyore was far more popular than winnie and he was there with piglet and grumpy rabbit in his vege garden. .So the kids got what they wanted all of it even the school itself in the background and eagles in the sky. Lots of specific breeds of horses for the girls and tractors for the boys. It went on for a very long time. Just doing some when i had time and in the holidays.
I would be working away and notice the hub bub of cheery little voices at play time would disappear, turn around and find myself surrounded by kids sitting cross legged all around me..
I have come to the conclusion that with experience and showing of technique and DECENT brushes. All children have the ability to produce excellent work. And it is the attitude of the society around them dampens their artist spirit. To me it is as important as learning english and maths. Art is a way of communicating and being able to communicate with others around them in a way that words can't say.
It is a form of stress relief of sorting the head and should be in the curriculum as a core subject just to give children the ability to sort their heads when they turn into adults. I was fortuate that the school my daughter attended could see the importance of art and encouraged it right through the kids years at schooland had a a practicing artist as the art teacher .
My daughters art far out strips mine and enjoys it even now. There was a struggle as to wether she should follow art after academy or zoology . she followed Zoology but still practices her art often and loves doing it.
So to everybody out there who says they cant draw or paint, try again do a course find a style, everyone is an artist and the enjoyment you will feel will improve your lives.
So get a piece of paper and doodle away. goodnight evverybody.
Love ur dragon sister . Keep drawing .xx
