Pauli and Jieter, Abrahamn and Inge going home back to the Netherlands Safe trip and a speedy one.. It was so lovely to meet you all.And those toasties smelt really really good.
Good morning. I have had some lovely neighbours moored up beside us last night.
They are 2 couples i think one couple is definetly married , not sure about the other couple. They have been chartering this boat for their hoildays for ten years now and come from the Netherlands to spend ten days here and about. In the past they have visited the Shetlands. They have interesting lives including carpentry and computer software and it would have been lovely to spend more time with them. Today they go home in time for work on monday.
They have a deep draft and had to leave when the tide was full high. As they departed i got a mouth watering wiff of cheese toasties. I wish them a safe journey and maybe we will bump into each other again sometime. It was one of the reasons i wanted to do this little adventure to meet people from all over and see how they live. i didn't really imagine i would get to do that here in Walton. But already i have met Steve from Zimbabwe and Petra from holland and now Netherlanders I did find out that although they are seperate countries they are happy to be thought of from holland..
we had an interesting first night on the water with the ropes not sorted out properly and the boom not on we had what sounded like the cracken trying to take us under , but it turned out to be the ropes skittering about and hitting the mast. It was a bit windy so the boat was rocking abit. It was a nice feeling and i slept soundly for once only waking up with the shoogle shoogle of Mark doing his gymnastics to get out of bed.
cats are ok with the movement for some reason when i put the fan heater on to dry the bed off abit because of condensation , that freaked them out and poor Tom was at the hatch yowelling for his dad till i gave up and switched the heater of. Don't think i will ever understand cats . Little patch has given up on the lead and only wants to sit and watch while Mark walks Tom. She really was a house cat at home so i am not surprised, more surprised she was so good on the lead at the start.
Mark is trying to fix the boom . It was a turning boom and rolled the sail up but at some point it seized , still useful as a boom but not as neat. He wants to unseize it and was trying but the end fell off so now he really has to fix it. He is also missing his vice as he came in bleeding . something to do with drill and it looked deep . So disinfected and patched up he headed back out still really wishing he had a vice..I think he is really missing all his tools and his garage etc. Spent 24 years building it up had just about every tool you could think off. Aw well one day we shall beach and build a garage .
