hi everybody i am now for the second time today going to attempt to add photos on this blog, wish me luck
Well i think i may have found the answer. Go and do it the hard way , one at a time. I really am getting very annoyed with this website. It is to say it politely " a bit of an arse "
On sunday i went via public transport , to see my daughter Bethany. It was hell , the transport i mean , not visiting my daughter , that's always lovely.
I left Walton at 8.30 am and arrived at my daughters door at 9.pm. All was well till we reached Newcastle. Normally i look forward to getting on a Virgin train and can relax, even have a nap.But it just got stupid. One train had broken down and behind it was another train and then the train with the crew change that we needed, for our train. I was sitting at Newcastle blissfully unaware of all this train trauma. When a hell of alot of people got on our train. "bit busy i thought" Then we got told to get off and get on the train that these extra people had just come from. It was a bit of a squeeze and i obviously lost my reserved seat and ended up stuck at the door with a poor disabled lassie , who had been shoved on by the Virgin staff.. There was an older lady with an aged dog and her neice and we really couldn't move.
We left and went like the clappers on up to Scotland , only to stop at Berwick on Tweed where our crew was stuck behind 2 other stuck trains, one being the broken down one.
People don't really mind things when there is a reason ,but being told that we would be moving in ten to fifteen minutes every ten to fifteen minutes for 2 hours is infuriating , and one we guy who tried to stop me getting of the train to have a ciggy got the full wrath of the unnessary lieing straight at him.
I did tell him i would go for a walk [ have my ciggy ] and be a good girl and get back on the train.
At this time the heat had built up in the train to very uncomfortable levels and most people had decamped on to the platform. Why he picked on me i don't know and having someone shout " oy you , what do you think your doing " doesn't help you keep your patience.
Finally a train came and moved the broken down train out of the way and the other two trains could come and the crew could change over. YEA !.
After getting to Edinburgh and running about like an eejit trying to find the upstairs platforms [lots of building work going on and stairs shut off ahhh] I caught the Glasgow train stopping at every village along the way. Got into Glasgow. I am not used to Queen street station and with alot of work being done there as well came out on George square lost needing cash for the taxi with no machine in sight.
Black cabs now take cards . I could have kissed the guy when he said that. very nice taxi driver but i have found all the black cab drivers in Glasgow to be great.
We were talking so much completely missed my daughters house.
It was all worth it to get a cuddle from Bethany and Tristan . And her two poodles Honey and Treacle bounding into me and licking me from top to bottom just made the day all worthwhile even if i was exhausted.
Bethany , Tristan and myself went of to do some shopping in the "toon" [centre of Glasgow]. This is Glasgows underground, we get it at Hillhead [which is Byres road , very confusing if you don't know the city ].
I have got used to it now but the first time i used it i was terrified. I have called it the screaming maggot. It is tiny about half the size of the london underground carriages and it screams and bucks about. and whatever you do don't look through the door at the next one. You will wonder how the hell they stay together. It does work and is brilliant. .And now i look forward to having a go on it.
Did some shopping had a BURGER KING. yum yum.Tristan went home to walk the poo's and we went charity shop shopping.
This man was setting up outside the St Enoch centre in Glasgow. He really enjoyed what he was doing and it was a laugh. He has made a set of drums out of metal buckets and has automated cats on their instruments going along with the song. the middle cat was on strike apparently and refusing to play , but the other two kept the band together and played on. I have the wonderful honour of having to walk through Glasgow botanics everytime i go to Bethanys. This is Kibble Palace.Always worth a visit .And we always take the chance to go into the palm houses. lovely big pond in one with some wierd and wonderful donations of fish in them.. Looking very autumny now .The staff do a wonderful job all year round and the begonia display as you can see is stunning and will be till the first frosts.. One of Bethany and Tristans toy poodles .Not soft and squishy by any means . Honey takes great delight in killing again and again all her toys. They have had some adjustment coming from the middle of nowhere to Glasgow. Both seem to enjoy barking at everything and everyone. They are 11 years old , sisters and i think may be abit on the old side for changing but they are happy and the people of Glasgow forgiving.
On my way to Stranraer by train . Ailsa craig in the distance just as we head inland. Cant fathom trains at all , This one got me into Stranraer half an hour early. Met my midwife Francis who i haven't seen in 23 years on Ayr platform. I do love Stranraer station. One minute you are deep in the countryside coming in the back of Stranraer, next you go under a bridge and you are on top of the sea. with the whole of Loch Ryan to look at.. The station was built to meet up with the ferry. Years ago the ferry would come in , meet up with the train and overnight transport them to Glasgow and on to London It had the now unpolitically correct term of being called the paddy.
We had 3 lovely ferries that used to be called the Princess Galloway The Darnia and The Antrim. Stena took over and Stena was put in front of their names.
The Darnia could be seen entering the mouth of Loch ryan way in the distance because of her constant lean she had
Sadly Stena built a new pier and terminal 5 miles closer to the mouth of the Loch at Cairnryan and one night after completion snuck the ferries across. This i thought was a shame. Stranraer did not want them to leave but would still have given them a cheering farewell if been allowed.
It has left our little station alone and exposed amongst a sea of concrete stuck out on the end of the pier and it is a constant fight to try and keep the train at Stranraer.
well the blog is doing it again , won't load my photos ahhhh.
Got back and my lovely dad came and picked me up took me back to theres and there was Monty my disco. I gave him a pat and went inside.
What a few days , had to see everybody and pack the car with stuff to bring home and try and sell . find things Mark wanted out of storage and chuck out boxes of books which had got wet in the garage.
Went to whithorn and saw my fantastic auntie Bea and uncle Terry. All well .Home and said a goodbye to my bestie Sara and her boy Sam . Sara had beked me a scrummy chocolate cake . the best in the world in my opinion.God fed like a king on my stay with my favourite mac and cheese and lasagne and shepards pie . . Got up early and headed of on the long Journey back down to Walton with Monty. Did it in 8 hours . And that is why i don't get on with public transport. Takes to long uncomfortable in a carriage of stranger which on my upward journey 90% of which had or had ust had a cold. i can stop when and where i want and start of when and where i want so the car be blessed.
Also before i forget and i am only going to forget because of the stupid site wont let me now do anything with photos.. I have a lovely photo of my dads bowling club . he took me bowling at his club at Portpatrick. It is the inside season now and i learned there is a whole load of rules and it requires a great deal of skill. I am not good at it and hit the stick that you are supposed to avoid, so i shall need more experience. it was a lovely night with a lovely crew which you will see when the site stops having its strop
